Quandary Game answers

To start, I want to say that it was a very good game because you must convince the villagers about your decision and your thoughts. It helps you think beyond. Now, I will answer the statements:


A) Explain your solution

My solution was to build a fence to keep the sheep safe from the problem. I chose this because it was good to keep the yashors alive since they are living beings and according to the database, they only eat hares. If you hunt a species of animals, they are probably goind to disappear, and of course, this would harm the environment and would cause a major change in the lives of all the living beings in the planet. The environment must have a balance, so building a fence to keep the sheep safe was the best solution for me.


B) Explain if others agreed or disagreed.

Yes, some disagreed because they wanted to poison them only because they considered the yashors as a plague that must be extermined at all. Some others agreed since it was the best for the sheep to keep the species alive without harming the environment. Most of the people disagreed, and I think that it is due to the fact of people's thinking. Not everyone will always agree with your opinions even though you present evidence that it will work or that it is good for the common benefit.


C) Explain how useful this game would be in our context.

Actually, we can see a lot of hunting on endagered animals such as whales and dolphins (the Japanese people hunt them), tigers, rhinos and elephants (which are commercialized for their skin and also ivory). Another thing that I liked is that students are free to use their own thoughts to make decisions and solve problems in order to do the right think according to them. This is a tool to help students interact with new ways of critical thinking based on real situations. Obviosuly, you will see different answers depending on how they see nature and if they care about it.


D) Would you implement it with your students ? Why YES/NO.

I would like to implement it because critical thinking is important in education and in society. It will be a good way to solve real problems in the future, and it will be a long term learning because when developing critical thinking, they will be able to have a good base in order to do what they think it is correct. Besides, I would use it depending on the topic I teach because you can get a lot of vocabulary or grammar structures. You must be familiar with all the context in your class to take advantage of such an interactive tool. I would definitely implement it.
